Clare Mulley - Year 7 Poetry Workshop

Clare Mulley - Year 7 Poetry Workshop

      Clare Mulley Poetry Workshop
Our Year 7's were lucky enough to be treated to a workshop by poet in residence and poetry columnist Clare Mulley. Clare is a Yorkshire-born poet, shortlisted for Young Poet Laureate for London through Spread the Word, she has since been poet in residence at StAnza Festival 2015 in St Andrews, and had work commissioned by the Tate; her poems have been published by Tower Press, and Forward Press.
Clare worked with students to develop the poems that they had written following a previous trip to the Tower of London, as organised by the Literacy trust. During the trip, students learned of the story of the Koh-i-noor diamond before having exclusive access to see it in person. Using this experience, students wrote their own poems based on the emotions evoked from the famous diamond's story.
