Key Stage 5 Curriculum (Years 12 & 13)
Our Sixth Form is large and has a specialist accommodation to enable us to offer a wide range of GCE AS or A2, Vocational and Applied courses. City of London Academy Southwark Sixth Form is a top performing Sixth Form Academy in London Borough of Southwark with over 300 students and has been recognised by the Department for Education as one of the top ten non-selective schools/colleges for progression to higher education.
16-19 Study Programme
CoLA Sixth Form offers a balanced study programme that allows students to excel academically whilst also developing confidence and the ‘soft skills’ needed to be competitive in the workplace.
At CoLA we offer a broad range of A levels alongside some vocational qualifications. Alongside this, every student must also select an enrichment option either participating in the Basketball Academy, studying for the Extended Project Qualification, taking part in a MOOCs (Massive Online Open Courses) programme or participating in the Duke of Edinburgh programme. Alongside this student can engage in various other enrichment activities, for example mentoring year 11 students, Debate Club and Football.
All year 12 students are encouraged to apply for university programmes such as the Kings K+ programme, and the UCL progression scheme and other programmes such as the Social Mobility Fund Aspiring Professionals Programme. In addition, all year 12 students complete a one-week work experience placement towards the end of the summer term.
Students also engage with a PSHE programme that includes sessions on careers, study skills and well-being amongst other things. The sixth form uses a number of external providers to support this programme, for example, Inner Drive and Elevate Education.
Please see the Sixth Form prospectus for course details and provision.
