Year 8 Visits to City, University of London and University of East London

Year 8 Visits to City, University of London and University of East London

City of London Academy (Southwark) Year 8 students were excited to visit City, University of London, where they were treated to a workshop delivered by some of the undergrad students. The visit aimed to help our students make informed decisions about their GCSE options and hoped to encourage and inspire them towards thinking about Higher Education.
One student survey said the trip was "amazing and fun", 57% of the students "agreed" and 42% "strongly agreed" that "the trip will inspire them to go to University to study in the future."
Year 8 students were also treated to a visit to the University of East London, where they took in lectures about Business Management, International Relations and Psychology.
In Business Management, students completed a product SWOT analysis and then pitched to a live audience, whilst International Relations gave them a chance to elect a President and try to solve the small matter of artic and global warming! The Psychology session allowed students to explore how the human brain works.
Students expressed their interest in all of the three sessions and said they really enjoyed all of the activities, finding them all very engaging.
For both trips students said they 'strongly agree' that the trip has inspired them towards higher education and it will help them in choosing GCSE options next month.
