ACCOMMODATION & FACILITIES
There are six forms of entry (180 per KS3/4 year group) and a maximum sixth form of 240 pupils. The sixth form figures are based on 67% pupil retention at post 16.

The school is a predominantly four-storey building with some two-storey areas. The design meets the requirements of the curriculum and those of all children. In addition, the building provides a secure environment and suitable accommodation for those pupils and members of the Community having disabilities. The Academy has bid to the DCSF for further accommodation, enhancing 6th Form facilities.

The layout, construction, servicing and furnishing of the school is flexible in order for changing needs to be met. Circulation space is maximised to ease movement around the building.

The facilities can be categorised into four key areas. The use of each area is related to integration of curriculum
  • Administration/Resources This includes a careers suite, boardroom, offices for senior managers, central staff area, library and facilities management control area (IT servers, CCTV controls, video production etc.)
  • Halls, sports and arts activities, special needs and catering Including restaurant, dance and drama studios, music area with practice rooms, community reception/office, fitness room, sports halls, school hall, special needs rooms
  • General classrooms - Flexible accommodation with a range of ICT suites
  • Specialist Science, Design Technology and Art - Science laboratories, Design Technology rooms, design/graphics plus CAD, greenhouse, darkroom, kiln, local ICT areas
