Curriculum - Mathematics

The Maths Department at the City of London Academy is committed to maximising the potential of all its students, whilst developing strong interest in the subject.

Key Stage 3

Maths is taught in line with the National Numeracy Strategy and the Framework for Key Stage 3. Pupils are taught in ability groups, so that materials and schemes of work can be matched closely with the needs of each pupil.

Maths is taught using a variety of approaches, including group work, individual work, whole class work led by the teacher, investigations, and closed and open tasks. Tasks include presentations, displays, consolidation exercises, practice exercises, and problem solving.

An integral use of IT underpins the delivery of the subject.
