The PE Department has brand new state-of-the-art facilities, including sports hall, fitness gym and dance studio.

The department continues to grow and now has four members of staff: Mrs J Job, Director of Sport; Mr T Henry, Head of Department; Ms C Duncan, Second in charge of department; and Mr B Hobman, Football Development Officer. In addition, the department employs club coaches to assist in lessons and coaching for extra-curricular clubs.

September 2005 saw the launch of the City of London Academy as a Specialist Sports Academy. We are now known as a school with Business & Enterprise and Sports College status.

Sports College status is part of the Specialist Schools Programme, which is an important part of the Government's drive to raise standards in education. As a Sports College we aim to develop strengths and character through sport for individuals, and . It helps to raise standards in sport in the school through the development of sporting provision. It also endeavours to raise standards of achievement in all areas of the curriculum through sporting activity. It ensures that the local community derives the greatest benefit from those sporting facilities whilst strengthening links between the school, businesses, industry, sporting bodies and the local community.
