CURRICULUM DESIGN AND DELIVERY

Academies provide an opportunity to develop and deliver the curriculum in an innovative manner. While business and enterprise is the curriculum theme at the Academy, ICT is the predominant vehicle for delivering it.

Learning takes a variety of forms including:

  • Classroom based teaching

  • Experiential learning in a variety of contexts and locations

  • e-learning

  • Team teaching

  • Group and individual work

  • Project work

  • Contributions from industry and commerce

  • Parental involvement

The style of teaching and methods of learning engender:

  • Problem solving skills

  • Perseverance

  • Initiative taking

  • Flexible approaches to the curriculum

  • Group working

  • Self assurance

  • The use of ICT as the prime tool for learning and communication

INCLUSION
Learning arrangements reflect the wide range of social, linguistic and ethnic backgrounds in the school’s community. Students with special educational needs and disabilities are offered maximum access to the curriculum through focussed use of ICT and appropriate building design. Pupils with specific or exceptional abilities are encouraged through a wide-ranging programme of appropriate activities.
