In two weeks it is Science week, so we will be running some science competitions. For the first one we are encouraging students to sign up at www.britishscienceassociation.org/web/nsew/GetInvolved/ResourcesandActivities/SchoolCompetition.htm. This competition, for Key Stages 3, asks you to carry out research into animal and plant species that are under threat of extinction. You must explain the effects this loss would have on other species and their habitats, and what actions must be taken to prevent this happening.
This must then be presented in the form of a poster with a drawing of the animal accompanied by an explanation of why their chosen species is under threat and what can be done to preserve them for the future.
Prizes for winners in each category include:
Winning entries will also be exhibited at ZSL London Zoo and ZSL Whipsnade Zoo.
The closing date for entries is Monday 22 March 2010. To get an entry form, please log in to the NSEW organiser area to download. All entries will require an entry form to qualify.
