http://www.theday.co.uk/ Staff, students and now parents are all able to access our online subscription newspaper The Day using our library subscription (accessible without log on or password in school now, or at home using User Name: CityofLondon Password: theday ) The Day is an educational news service that links daily current affairs with the school curriculum. Every weekday a team of professional journalists selects three of the most significant topical news stories. They explain the news, provide context and link the issues to the school curriculum. Each story comes with discussion points, Q & A, class activities, glossaries and links for further reading. Each evening three stories are uploaded to the website from which they can be displayed on interactive whiteboards or downloaded as PDFs and printed out like an A4 work sheet. The stories are regularly used at the Academy in tutor time and in classes right across the curriculum, particularly PSHE. It can also be used for after school clubs, extra curricular activities and now for students to discuss with parents and family at home. As well as three new stories every day, subscribers have access to an archive, which contains over 350 classroom relevant articles than can be searched by subject or key word. Further features include one story a week translated into French, German and Spanish, free entry to Junior Journalism Awards and Special Reports providing in depth analysis of the most important news issues of the term.
