Election Fever Begins PDF Print E-mail

There will be a CoLA election at the end of this half term in order to select our new Head Boy and Girl. The successful students will take over from Adam and Georgia, the current incumbents, at the beginning of the summer term.

The Year 12 shortlist for this year’s head boy and girl will be published shortly.

The week beginning 1st February will be the campaign week, and candidates will be given various opportunities to promote their campaigns, including opportunities to speak at assemblies.

The ballot will take place during the last week of this half term 8th-12th February). Students and Staff are invited to vote but voting is not compulsory. All votes will carry the same value.

A reminder to the candidates (and their campaign teams and supporters) that there are very clear rules of engagement for the election campaign period. These are:

  • No mentioning of other candidates in ones own campaign - absolutely no tolerance regarding "going negative" on other candidates.
  • Manifestos must be based on school issues regarding how candidates will improve CoLA for staff and particularly their fellow students, not based on bribes or unrealistic promises.
  • No attempt can be made to influence the vote through unfair means. For example, trying to buy votes from peers or the use of threats.
