Girls' basketball team win WEABL Final

Our girls' basketball team today won the WEABL Final today, beating Charnwood College 40-31 at the Leicester Arena. The WEABL is the premier junior female basketball competition in the United Kingdom, featuring the top U19 programmes in the country. Included in the CoLA team were our four players who have signed with full athletic scholarships to National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division One US colleges later this year. They are; Ire Ozzy-Momodu committed to Robert Morris University in Pennsylvania, Emerald Ekpiteta committed to Niagara University, NY, Khaleah Edwards committed to Wagner College, NY, and Toyosi Abiola committed to Iona College, NY.

Ire Ozzy-Momodu was named MVP after finishing with eight points, she says; "It feels great, not that we didn’t expect it. It was our team goal that we set this season and we’ve achieved it so it feels great."

Head Coach, Jackson Gibbons added: "We have a big rivalry with Charnwood and I respect what they did today so much. Their girls did themselves proud. Our mantra has been nothing is given. I want them to go off and remember this for the rest of their lives. The unity they’ve had has just been amazing."
