Admissions

Introduction

At the City of London Academy we have a primary specialism in Business and Enterprise, also known as Information Technology. Prospective students are able to complete an online Information Technology Aptitude Test that evaluates their aptitude for information technology.  Each year, the Academy is able to allocate up to 24 places (10% of the cohort) to students through the Information Technology Aptitude Test.

If you would like your child to complete this Aptitude Test, an application form can be downloaded from this page and is included in the School Prospectus. Alternatively, you can collect a form from Reception at the City of London Academy at the City of London Academy.  The Information Technology Aptitude Test is held each year in October. Please note the test is open to all applicants. Students do not have to prepare for their test as it is designed to asses aptitude in Information Technology. The deadline for submission of the Form is available on the Website.

As explained fully in the Admissions Arrangements, part of the Admissions oversubscription criteria to the Academy is that prospective pupils sit a Banding Test.  Banding Tests are carried out each year in December.  Parents/carers are notified of the allocated time for their child’s Banding Test.  Due to the administrative requirements in organising the Banding Tests, together with information gained from the London Borough of Southwark, we are unable to issue results before the deadline for secondary school application.  We will, however, endeavour to get the outcomes of the test to all parents with the minimal delay.  To give an indication of the cut off distance from the Academy for each band, we include the results from the September 2017 intake.
