Sixth Form Admissions

We are oversubscribed for Sep 2017 entry but will be accepting late applications for enrolment, please come in with your GCSEs results and birth certificate or passport.

The City of London Academy (Southwark) Sixth Form will admit 200 students in Year 12.

For Level 3 study all students will have to meet our basic entry requirement which is 5 GCSE grades A*-C, including English and Maths, Grade 5.  There are then individual subject requirements that students must meet. For more information on these requirements, see the Sixth Form Prospectus.

Through the Sports Specialism in Basketball, prospective students in Years 12 and 13 are able to complete a skills based assessment that evaluates their skills in Basketball. Each year the Academy is able to allocate up to 10 places to students through this specialism. Students to will be selected on the basis of our Sports Specialism in Basketball, based on skills based assessment. Please note the tests are open to all applicants.  This test will take place at the City of London Academy.

Course Availability

Places offered are subject to course availability and we reserve the right to withdraw courses at short notice if they fail to recruit sufficient numbers. All offers expire after the stated enrolment date.

Admission Timetable 2017 Sixth Form (exact dates may vary from year to year):

a) September - the City of London Academy will publish in its prospectus information about the arrangements for admission to the Sixth Form, including over subscription criteria, in the following September (e.g. in September 2017 for admission in September 2018). This will include details of Open Evenings and other opportunities for prospective students and their parents to visit the Academy. It will notify the date by which applications must be received. The City of London Academy will also provide information to Southwark LA for inclusion in LA Post 16 literature.

b) October – the City of London Academy will hold an Open Evening/opportunities for existing students at City of London Academy, parents and for external applicants and parents to visit the City of London Academy.

c) January – closing date for application (will vary each year). External applicants must also ensure that predicted grades are submitted via their school

 d) January/February – Prospective students will be asked to attend a briefing to discuss subject choices, options and career options.

g) March – Students will be informed of the results of their application


Late applications

Late applications will only be considered where there are a surplus of places in the Academy and in the required courses once the over subscription criteria has been applied.
