Year 7 Literacy and Numeracy Catch-Up Premium
This Year 7 Literacy and Numeracy Catch Up Funding Report Context and Purpose The DFE provides additional funding to schools for each Year 7 pupil who has not achieved a Level 4 in reading and/or maths at the end of Key Stage 2. All state-funded schools receive an additional £500 (maximum) for each Year 7 pupil who had not achieved at least Level 4 in reading and /or maths at Key Stage 2. This funding has the inherent expectation that pupils are given the support required to ensure they are more likely to succeed ‘at secondary school’.
This fund has now been discontinued, with last payments being for the 2019 to 2020 academic year.

City of London Academy Southwark has a fantastic reading programme where every student in Year 7-9, within an age appropriate reading group, reads every day of the week. We also have targeting intervention for students to help their literacy skills. For more information, click here.
