Our purpose
Our purpose, the Exploration of Life, guides the education of our students during this transformative period of their lives. They are immersed in the best of all that has come before, to enable them to shape what will come next; for themselves, but also the wider world. Whilst we have the highest expectations of our students academically, we know that to thrive in the wider world our students are required to develop a set of skills and emotional intelligence that cannot be so easily measured.
The Exploration of Life is delivered in line with our values and through our four curriculum areas.
Inclusion by Design
The academic success of all our students is ensured by our approach of Inclusion by Design. All elements of the academy are considered through the lens of our most vulnerable students to ensure that no child is left behind. Our Inclusion by Design approach permeates all academy systems and approaches; for example, we have silent lesson transitions so that all students feel safe in school and run over 40 lunchtime clubs each week so that every child gets access to an enriching co-curricular offer.
Our values
Our values dictate how we act in pursuit of our purpose. The academy has a core value of Integritas and three additional values of Ambition, Resilience and Duty.
Integritas, the Latin for integrity, ostensibly means we own our mistakes and we do the right thing. There are few shortcuts in life and someone with Integritas knows this. Every half-term we celebrate up to 2 Integritas Winners; students who consistently show the academy’s values and are role models to all.
We encourage our students to have ambition, because without ambition – for ourselves and for others – many of our greatest social, political and scientific advances would not have occurred. Our students show resilience in pursuit of these ambitions. They will get knocked down, they face adversity, but by showing resilience they prevail. Finally, our students imbue a sense of duty for the greater good. Our lives can only really be measured by the positive impact we had on others and the world around this. Our students embrace their duty towards the collective nature of our existence.
