From SCITT trainee to qualified science teacher – Natacia’s journey
Published: Tue 5 May 2026At City of London Academy Southwark, we are proud to support aspiring teachers through our School-Centred Initial Teacher Training (SCITT) programme.
Natacia completed the programme in 2025 and now works at COLA Southwark as a science teacher, having trained with us through SCITT. Her journey highlights the growth, resilience and support that shape future teachers.
“SCITT helped me grow so much in confidence, knowledge and as a person.”
Natacia’s route into teaching began through working with youth groups and wanting to make a meaningful difference to young people’s lives. The SCITT programme offered the right balance of practical experience, professional learning and relationship-building within education.
Like many trainees, the start of the journey came with challenges.
“At the start, I was nervous in the classroom and doubted whether I could do it. But I’m proud that I overcame those fears and challenges.”
Throughout her training, mentorship and feedback played a vital role in her development, helping her reflect, improve and build confidence in the classroom.
Natacia now encourages others considering teaching to take the leap.
“Do it. Don’t let your fears stop you, allow them to push you forward. The programme has shaped me as a teacher and the experience is invaluable.”
